Pre-Arrival Information

Thank you for considering Mylie’s Place Resort for a visit to Lake of the Woods!   We are excited to host your stay with us.  Please use this in preparation for your visit so you can hit the ground running upon arrival.

Cabins will have the following items included as standard: coffee makers, coffee filters, dish soap, all towels, bedding, cookware, dishes/utensils, fridge (full size 24” to 30” depending on cabin), electric stove, microwave, charcoal grill, air conditioning/heating, ceiling fans.  If something isn’t present or isn’t working, please let us know ASAP so we can do our best to correct the issue in a timely manner.  Each cabin is supplied with water from our natural flowing spring, which is run through multiple filters, including a UV light system.   We do not pump lake water anywhere into the resort water system.

We cannot guarantee check-in times, especially on Saturdays when there can often be 10-12 cabins needing to be cleaned for new arrivals.   You will be welcome to arrive anytime, but must be prepared for delays checking-in if you arrive earlier in the day when there are several cabins turning over.   You will be welcome to check-in early if, and only if, the cabin has been cleaned and inspected prior to your arrival. If that is not the case, we will be happy to get your boat in the water (not before 8am) so you can get out on the lake while you wait for your cabin to be ready.  Parking is available in our park/launch customer parking area.  You will not have access to the cabin, or area around the cabin, prior to check-in.   Please plan accordingly.  All cabins will need time for floors to dry after mopping before quality inspection is made and the cabin is deemed ready for check-in.   Please let us know your expected time of arrival so we can do our best to clean cabins in order of arrival to try and limit wait-times to check-in on busier turnover days.

Check-out time is no later than 10am on departure day (unless otherwise arranged in advance during slower periods.) If you would like to fish on the day you leave, you are more than welcome to clear out of the cabin, park your vehicle in the area our park/launch visitors use and spend as much time on the water as you like before coming in to load the boat and head for home.

For those visiting in our RV/campground site area,  your garbage can be taken to the shop/garage by the fish cleaning house for daily collection.  There will be a can outside the man-door until approximately 8:30pm each evening during the summer prior to locking the building.  Lock-up times will be earlier after Labour Day and as we go deeper into the fall.   Please ensure your food/garbage is safely stored during the day and overnight so bears aren’t attracted.  They will become a problem quickly if they come around and find a reason to keep coming back.  Also please see that both doors to the shower house/bathrooms are closed at all times.  If there are any issues with the shower house/bathroom, please notify a staff member ASAP we can attend to it quickly.

Please check with the office for current boat launch/load procedures.   We are using our tractor or truck for launching and loading guest boats unless otherwise instructed.  We may have you drop your boat in a certain place before launching to keep things from getting clogged up around the boat ramp.   Boat launching/loading is typically available 8am to 9pm throughout the summer.   Cut off times at the end of the day come earlier after Labour Day and into October.

Our live bait selections will usually include minnows, leeches and now crawlers (as of 2022.)  Leeches are normally harder to get by August and may be out of stock by the middle of August, or earlier, depending on how the trapping results for suppliers go.    Worms will likely not be available by late September.  You should let us know a month in advance if you are looking to reserve a full flat for your stay.  We sell them full flats of approx. 500 worms or boxes of 18 at the dock.

Please prepare to store any live bait (or artificial baits like impulse, gulp, etc you might bring) purchased outside the cabins and away from porches, decks or steps.   These items must be kept outside at all times.

We do not allow jerry cans full of gas to be brought into the resort for use on your trip.  We sell 91 octane, non-oxygenated, ethanol-free supreme right here at the dock.   We generally average over 1000 gallons a week from Memorial Weekend through Labour Day with fresh gas delivered weekly.

Dock slips are not assigned, but arrangements can be made for anyone with legitimate mobility issues.   Let us know a week or so in advance if you have health issues that create a need for a boat slip closer to your cabin and we will try to accommodate for you prior to arrival.  Any slip that doesn’t contain hanging bumpers, ropes, etc is open for your use.  When you leave your ropes, bumpers, cords etc on the slip, it will be yours for the duration of your stay unless you choose to relocate to another open slip mid-trip.  We will provide bumpers for rental boats to keep dock slips.   All slips have power for charging trolling motor batteries.  Please ensure your cords are in good condition with no bare spots and proper ends for grounding.  Cords without factory sealed ends should be avoided.   Our GCFI receptacles are sensitive and will trip when they sense even the slightest bit of moisture or something not right in the cord, charging system, etc.   As more and more people add lithium batteries and extra house batteries to their systems, there may be times that someone is asked to move their boat to balance out load on the electrical system.  Please volunteer is asked so that chargers don’t end up without power after a breaker trips due to too much load.

We sell fishing licenses and outdoors cards here at the resort, but we much prefer you purchase your fishing license online. Any license/outdoors card purchases at the resort will be done with cash.   All other items related to your stay can be settled with Canadian cash, USA cash, Canadian debit or a personal check in either currency.  We accept credit cards, but please note, since covid, we have introduced a 3% convenience fee for all credit card and US-based debit cards to cover the bank fees associated with accepting those card payments.
