Resort Stay Guide

WELCOME TO MYLIE’S!! Please make every member of your group aware of the following guidelines.  We will leave notes if/when any of the following are being neglected. Consider these your “house rules” a la VRBO or AirBnB.  Thank you for your co-operation. UPDATED FOR 2024.

00 – BOAT LAUNCHING
We launch and load boats with our John Deere 3020 or our own truck unless otherwise directed.  Launching is available from 8am to 9pm daily.   Please put your plug in, remove all trailer tie-down straps and ask someone where to unhook your boat when you are ready to launch. You may need to pick your empty trailer out of the line-up before loading out.

1 – GAS
We ask our guests not to bring gas in cans.  If you brought gas, keep it covered in your truck and take it back home with you.  Buy whatever you gas you need at the dock during your stay.   This is not negotiable.

2 – ALL OUTSIDE DOORS MUST BE KEPT SHUT AT ALL TIMES
Outside of unloading gear on arrival and loading gear prior to departure, keep the doors closed.  Leaving doors open allows bugs, chipmunks and other critters to move right in. Extra cleaning time is needed when bugs are squashed into walls and ceilings.  This causes delays on check-in days.  We will ask you (and keep asking you) to close your doors if they are left open.

3 – FRIDGES & FREEZERS
DON’T OVERLOAD FRIDGES!!  They won’t cool if you don’t allow air to circulate.  Use coolers/ice for beer/drinks etc if needing to keep them cold in bulk numbers.

4 – BEER BOTTLES (and other glass)
Keep your empty beer bottle cases and place empties in the case they came in.   All full empty cases of beer bottles should be take to the shop next to the fish cleaning house and placed on the floor a few steps inside the door.   Please do this as the empties are refilled.  Also, please do the same with empty glass liquor and wine bottles.   These should never be put into the garbage in the cabins.

5 – USED COOKING OIL, BACON GREASE, ETC
We have a barrel for used cooking oil located right inside the door of garage next to the fish house. Used cooking oil can be disposed of until approximately 8:30pm each evening before we lock up the garage for the night.  There are cans under your sink for bacon grease oils from frying pans.  No grease/used oil should ever be put into the garbage, down the sink drain, toilet or in the fish cleaning house.

6 – MAINTAIN THE CABIN ON A DAILY BASIS
This means keep it tidy.  Use the broom and sweeper.  Wash your dishes.  Walking around barefoot outside and then inside on the flooring will make it dirty.   Be careful what you set on the carpet or coffee/end tables, etc.   Keep coolers off carpet floors.   Notify a staff member of any accidents requiring special cleaning attention so we can take care of it before it becomes a bigger problem.   Please do not freeze water in bowls or other cookware (pots, dutch ovens, etc) in the cabin freezer.

7 – AIR CONDITIONING & HEATING
Please try using ceiling fans and opening windows to use available breeze off the lake when temps allow.  Running the AC when ambient temps are less than 70 just adds to overheard costs and leads to rate increases.  If you have doors or windows open while the A/C is running, power to the A/C will be shut off.   When heat is needed, close all windows and ensure doors are shut before turning heat on.  Please adjust heat down or AC up when heading out on the lake for a long day.   We want you to be comfortable during your stay, but would also like to keep the electricity bills down when possible.  NEW MINI SPLITS should be set on “COOL” or “HEAT” with fan set to “AUTO” to get the best performance from the units.   Remotes are on the wall in their holders.  Please keep them there when not using them to set the unit.

8 – KEEP OUTSIDE STUFF OUTSIDE AND INSIDE STUFF INSIDE
Use your vehicle as a storage shed during your stay.  Don’t bring stuff inside that should be in a shed or garage.     Examples are: battery chargers, marine batteries, spare tires, outboard oil, charcoal, boat seats, bemini tops, portable grills, propane tanks, bags of charcoal, etc.  Fish (before being cleaned) and bait (live or artificial bait soaking in goo) should never be inside the cabin, on the porch or on a deck.  Please keep these items in your vehicles.   Any of the above items found inside the cabin will be removed.  Anything found inside the cabins should remain inside.  This includes kitchen chairs (porch chairs stay in porch), towels, wash cloths, etc.   If you need rags to clean up a mess, please see a staff member.  We will be happy to provide some to you.

9 – NO GRILLING/FRYING/BLACKSTONING on decks or steps.
Please do all cooking down below so to keep grease, stains etc off the decks and steps.

10 – WE HAVE A SEPTIC TANK AND FIELD
Do not flush anything down the toilet other than toilet tissue provided by the resort.  If you brought your own, feel free to take it out in the boat for use on the islands.   If you need more 1 ply, please come to the office and we will be happy to give you a refill if housekeeping staff forgot to leave a spare roll.  FLUSHABLE WIPES (or wipes of any kind) are absolutely not ok to put into our septic system.  Also, all paper towels, other wipes and feminine products should be disposed of in the garbage.

11 – NO WORMS, LEECHES, GULP, etc INSIDE CABINS, porches, on steps or decks.  EVER
Do not leave a mess outside.  Worm bedding or dirt from worm flats should not be dumped on the ground/grass by the cabins.  Peanut shells, charcoal ashes, used cooking oil etc should be properly disposed of rather than put on the ground.

12 – DOCKS & DOCKING
Please do not screw or nail anything to our docks.  Hang your bumpers from the cleats or your boat.  Dock space is not assigned.  Etiquette dictates that when there are bumpers hanging from a dock, ropes left on the dock or some other sign that dock is in use, then that slip is taken.  Please be courteous to other guests.

13 – SLOW – NO WAKE PLEASE
When heading out to, please idle out until you are out of the bay and cut power before entering the bay.  Resort property extends almost to the point on the west side of our bay.  Wave action is very hard on the docks as well as the boats tied to them, especially during high water periods.  Thank you for keeping the wakes from your boat to a minimum.  We have added “SLOW, NO WAKE PLEASE” signage to each end of the harbour to help remind all boaters to be respectful of our wishes.

14 – PLEASE DO NOT FEED THE BIRDS OR ANIMALS
This includes gulls, pelicans, geese, stray dogs/cats, fox, chipmunks, etc

15 – STORM WARNINGS – DROP ANTENNAE
An important reminder about radio antennae and trolling motor plugs: please lower your antennae, lay all fishing rods down,  and unplug your trolling motor from its power source when you plug in your battery chargers.  This can save your trolling motors from damage during electrical storms and lightning related power surges.  It is a good practice everywhere you go with your rigs.

16 – GROCERY ITEMS
Please check in the office for any items you may have forgotten or run out of during your stay.  We may have them right here.  Our regular town day is Tuesday, so she can often secure anything you might need if you are able to let us know the day before.

17 – EMPTY FRIDGES WHEN YOU LEAVE
Please be sure to remove everything from the fridge when you leave.  This includes any leftover food, frozen water bottles, etc.

IF SOMETHING DOESN’T WORK, PLEASE LET US KNOW. We try hard to maintain our facilities and usually have replacements for anything that is not in good working order.   Please let us know if you find something that isn’t working properly so we can do our best to make it right.

Please keep in mind that gratuities/tips for housekeeping staff and dock staff are not included on your cabin bill.  They are very much appreciated and encouraged.

Thank you so much for your help in maintaining our facilities to the high standards we strive to keep.  We are very happy to have you staying with us and hope you will always enjoy your visits to Mylie’s Place.
